Have you Heard About MyPlate

Out with the Old in with the New!!
Parents, do you remember the infamous pyramid that we were all introduced to in elementary school.?? The pyramid that sometimes left us confused on what to eat and how to eat ??  Well, no more confusion!!!

The USDA and Michelle Obama have come up with MyPlate. MyPlate shows us what our plates should look like when we eat a meal. If, you take a look at the picture below, you will notice that each food group represented by a different color:

  • Grains (Orange)WHOLE GRAINS!! Pasta, rice , oatmeal, bread, etc
  • Protein(Purple)Eggs, nuts, seeds, beans, meat, fish
  • Veggies (Green)Lettuce, kale, squash, string beans, carrots
  • Fruits (Red) Apples, strawberries, plums, mango, kiwi
  • Dairy (Blue)
  • Milk, Cheese, yogurt

Hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend. Kidz on Cloud 9 has so much planned for you and your family this summer. In addition to weekly recipes, each month, right here,  you will find a new health goals and a number of tips on how to reach that goal.

Parent Note:
It is essential that we as parents, caregivers, adults, role models, etc that we lead by example. A few, weeks ago at the Partner ship for a Healthier America Summit, Michelle Obama said "we can't lay around on the couch eating french fries and expect our kids to eat carrots and run around the block".

We must remember our kids are a reflection of us. So, we must begin to take the first step in change!!

Who I am and Who We Are

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Everyone....

Before I start blogging and posting all the fun stuff I wanted to take some time to introduce myself to you and your family.

My name is Charline.  I am the creator and owner of Kidz on Cloud 9. Kidz on Cloud9
has programs targeted towards children and adults of different age groups to “promote healthy eating habits through education, cooking techniques and food preparation skills.”

One such program is the "Cooking For Fun” youth cooking parties. At each party we teach children life skills and creativity while also teaching them to cook a delicious meal.  Each party is designed to familiarize children with diverse foods while creating a fantastic experience and masterpieces in the kitchen.

These parties will take place on certain Saturdays or Sundays of each month and you will be notified in advance of the dates.  We will bring all the supplies.

These parties are a great opportunity for both you and your child.

Host a Cooking for Fun party at your house.... Many Menus too choose from... Call or Email details.
